Current Families
We use Brightwheel in order to offer online payment (checks are also accepted in person) and school announcements. Caretakers of children in our primary class may also use this tool to communicate directly with teachers and receive photos and updates on happenings in class. It can be used on a computer or via their mobile apps for Android and iOS. To set up your account, you will receive an invite from our school that contains signup information and a student code. If you have not received this, please reach out to us.
Caretakers of currently enrolled students may request to join our Little Dove WhatsApp Group to connect with other families.
Holidays & Inclement Weather
Little Dove observes Denton ISD school holidays and weather closures and will not be open during severe weather. Parents are responsible for making alternate arrangements under such circumstances. Visit the Denton ISD website at www.dentonisd.org for closure announcements.
Birthdays
Birthdays
If they choose to participate, we celebrate students’ birthdays with the Montessori tradition of a “Walk Around the Sun.” This tradition not only honors a particular child on their birthday, but also encourages children to understand how the months in a year relate to the four different seasons.
The birthday student’s caregivers are encouraged to join us and bring a few supplies to assist in our celebration!
Photos of each year of the child’s life from birth to the present day (a posterboard is welcomed!)
Brief verbal life story of the child
A snack to share with your child’s class after our celebration (examples: cut fruit, berries with yogurt, muffins, or cut veggies).
FAQs
-
We kindly request foods that can create large messes are not sent with you child. These include small grains (rice, quinoa, cous cous, etc.), red marinara sauce, and fruit cups packaged in juice. At our school, children clean up their own eating space and we strive to set them up for success. We also request as few pre-packaged snacks as possible to reduce waste.
Water is available throughout the day and we ask that you please refrain from sending juice boxes/pouches to school. -
We prefer food is sent in multiple containers within an insulated lunch box. We believe it is important to teach children how to open multiple types of containers. Please do not send Bentgo style lunch boxes.
